Abstract

<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Viện Đại học Đà Lạt (1958–1975)</strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Viện Đại học Đà Lạt là cơ sở giáo dục đại học có truyền thống lâu đời nhất ở khu vực Tây Nguyên và Duyên hải Nam Trung Bộ. Cơ sở ban đầu của Viện đặt trên khuôn viên của <em>Trường Thiếu sinh quân hỗn hợp Âu-Á Đà Lạt</em>. Viện là tổ chức thuộc quyền sở hữu của Hội Đại học Đà Lạt, hoạt động theo Nghị định số 67/BNV/NA/P5 ngày 8/8/1957 của Bộ Nội vụ, Chính quyền Việt Nam Cộng Hòa. Viện tuyển sinh những người có bằng Tú tài toàn phần để đào tạo niên khóa đại học đầu tiên từ năm 1958.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Viện Đại học Đà Lạt là cơ sở giáo dục đại học tư thục đầu tiên của Việt Nam Cộng Hòa và chiếm vị thế chủ đạo về quy mô đào tạo trong số 16 viện đại học tư thục thời bấy giờ. Tính đến niên khóa 1973–1974, đã có 31.356 sinh viên và học viên ghi danh theo học bậc đại học và cao học tại Viện; trong đó đã có 1.862 người tốt nghiệp cử nhân và 58 người tốt nghiệp cao học. Viện chính thức được phép cấp văn bằng đại học theo Sắc lệnh số 190/GD ngày 28/8/1961 của Tổng thống Việt Nam Cộng Hòa. Viện được tổ chức thành 04 trường đại học (phân khoa), gồm: Sư phạm, Văn khoa, Khoa học, và Chánh trị Kinh doanh. Từ 1961, Viện lấy triết lý giáo dục <em>Thụ Nhân</em> làm căn bản.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Trường Đại học Đà Lạt (từ 1976 đến nay)</strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Ngày 27/10/1976, Thủ tướng Chính phủ nước CHXHCN Việt Nam đã ký Quyết định số 426/TTg thành lập Trường Đại học Đà Lạt trên cơ sở kế thừa Viện Đại học Đà Lạt. Trong giai đoạn 1977 – 1989, Trường là một trong bốn đại học tổng hợp của Việt Nam, đào tạo các ngành khoa học tự nhiên và nhân văn: Toán học, Vật lý, Hóa học, Sinh học, Ngữ văn, và Lịch sử.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Trong giai đoạn 1990 - 1997, Trường là một trong những đơn vị tiên phong chuyển đổi đào tạo từ hệ thống niên chế sang hệ thống tín chỉ, mở rộng quy mô và đa dạng hóa ngành, bậc, và hệ đào tạo. Từ 1998 đến nay, Trường đã phát triển thành trường đại học đa ngành, đa lĩnh vực; khẳng định vị thế vững chắc là trung tâm đào tạo, nghiên cứu khoa học và chuyển giao công nghệ có uy tín cao ở khu vực Tây Nguyên và Duyên hải Nam Trung Bộ, có vị trí quan trọng trong hệ thống giáo dục đại học quốc gia.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Viện Đại học Đà Lạt – The University of Dalat (1958–1975)</strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The University of Dalat was a higher education institution with a long-established tradition in the Central Highlands and South-Central Coast of Vietnam. The university campus was located on an area of land that was formerly the campus of the <em>L'École des Enfants de Troupe Eurasiens de Dalat</em>. The University of Dalat was a private tertiary institution founded by the Dalat University Association and authorized by Decree No. 67/BNV/NA/P5, dated August 8, 1957, issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Vietnam. The university began enrolling students seeking a bachelor's degree in 1958, the inaugural academic year.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The University of Dalat was the first private university in the Republic of Vietnam and held a dominant position in terms of training scale among the 16 private universities at that time. As of the 1973–1974 academic year, 31,356 undergraduate and graduate students were enrolled in academic programs offered by the university. Among them, 1,862 students graduated with a bachelor’s degree, and 58 students graduated with a master’s degree.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The University of Dalat was officially authorized to confer college degrees by Ordinance No. 190/GD, dated August 28, 1961, of the President of the Republic of Vietnam. It included four schools (faculties): the Pedagogy Centre, the College of Letters, the College of Science, and the School of Government and Business. The University of Dalat adopted Thụ Nhân (“nurturing people”, “to grow people”, or “human values”) as its fundamental educational philosophy in 1961.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Dalat University (from 1976 to the present)</strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;">On 27 October 1976, the Vietnamese prime minister signed Decision No. 426/TTg establishing Dalat University as the successor to Viện Đại học Đà Lạt (The University of Dalat). In the period from 1977 to 1989, Dalat University was one of four national comprehensive universities focusing on basic science in Vietnam and offering educational programmes in the natural sciences and humanities, including mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology, literature, and history.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">In the period from 1990 to 1997, Dalat University led in converting from a fixed-curriculum system to a credit-based system. Expanded the scale and diversity of educational disciplines, levels, and types. From 1998 to the present: Dalat University has developed into a multidisciplinary university known as an established, reputable institution of higher education, academic research, and technology transfer in the Central Highlands and South-Central Coast, with an important position in the higher education system nationwide.</p>
